harmony's     history

In 2009, Tressie Seegers started an art and music camp for people with developmental disabilities in Austin, TX in response to a need in the disability community for life-enriching programs. In 2010, she turned the program into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit called The Austin Harmony Project whose mission is to enrich the lives of adults with developmental disabilities through art, music and community. Since then, Harmony has touched the lives of hundreds of  adults with developmental disabilities and their families and caretakers.

In 2011, Harmony received a seed money grant from A Glimmer of Hope Foundation that enabled Harmony to increase capacity by moving into their current 2000 sq. ft. facility on W. Stassney Ln. in South Austin, TX. In 2014, A Glimmer of Hope honored Harmony's founder, Tressie Seegers, with the Angel of The Year award pictured below.
