Music is Fun!

The Power of Music

Music is powerful in many ways. It helps to activate our social safety system, stimulate our whole brain all at once, and acts as a social glue to help us connect with others and our environment. Harmony uses music sessions to increase levels of happiness, joy and social community for its clients and the musicians that volunteer to share their music.

Harmony's Music Program

Harmony's music program is comprised of volunteer musicians that share their talents and passion for music and social connectedness with our clients. There is something very special about this exchange that enriches the lives of Harmony's clients and the musicians that donate their time and energy. It is a soul-quenching experience that lifts and elevates. Our volunteer musicians often comment on how happy and fulfilled it makes them feel to play for such a wonderful group that shows their appreciation and unbridled joy.

What Does Harmony Do For Its Clients?

Harmony is the real deal, a nonprofit that brings joy, meaning and social connections to adults with developmental disabilities. The clients are showered with opportunities to express themselves through music, art and other creative endeavors, and their work adds beauty to the lives of others. These adults, who otherwise might be isolated, thrive in the Harmony environment." ~Mary Gordon Spence
